     Mrs Smith has 3 children------ Alice, Bob and Rose. Alice is the eldest and Rose is the youngest. She is only 5 years old. Alice often gets A in her study. She not only works hard, but also helps Mrs Smith to do much housework. Bob is not willing to do housework. One day, Mrs Smith bought 17 apples. She wanted to praise Alice and encourage Bob to study well. She asked Bob to share them. Alice could take a half. Bob could take a third. Rose could take a ninth. Bob didn't know how to deal with these apples. How could he divide 17 by 2 ?  17 by 3 ? And 17 by 9 ? He asked Alice for help. Alice said, " Can you share out the apples if I give you another apple ?" Now Bob had 18 apples. He gave Alice a half, left a third for himself and gave Rose a ninth. He returned the last apple to Alice and said, " Thank you , Alice. I'll study harder so that I can be as clever as you. "
