第一单元 帮助那些有需要的

Host: Welcome to Teenagers’ Radio. Today we’re going to interview Doris and David. Their classes have raised money for their school and old people in the community. First, let’s talk to Doris. How did your class raise money for your school, Doris?

Doris: We organized a dance competition for students. They paid money to take part.

Host: Wow! That’s great. How much money did you raise?

Doris: We raised more than two thousand yuan. We have enough money to buy new books for the school library now.

Host: Thank you, Doris. And now David, tell us about your class’s money-raising activity.

David: Well, our class organized a book fair in the playground. All the students sold their old books and CDs.

Host: That’s very good, David. You raised one thousand five hundred yuan. Is that right? And what will you use the money for?

David: Yes. We’ll use the money to buy food and clothes for old people in the community.

Host: That’s great!

第二单元 肢体语言

Ballet is a special form of art. It’s a French word. It means “to dance”. There’s no talking or singing in ballet. The dancers use body language such as steps, gestures and the expressions on their faces to tell stories.

Ballet began in Western Europe in the 15th century. Today it has become popular all over the world.

One of the most famous ballets in the world is Swan Lake. The dancers tell the story and express feelings through their body language. For example, some of the dancers must give people the impression that they’re swans. They do this by moving their arms like wings and moving their necks like the long necks of swans.

It’s not easy to become a ballet dancer. Training usually starts at an early age, and the dancers have to practise very hard every day. They learn to use their bodies to communicate all kinds of messages with beauty.

第五单元 拯救濒危动物

Tom: Good afternoon. My name’s Tom Green. I work for the World Wide Fund for Nature. It’s also known as the WWF. We work in around 100 countries and have close to five million members. We want to help make the world a better place for people and animals to live in. Did you know that there are thousands of endangered animals around the world? These animals may all die soon if we don’t take good care of them. South China tigers, giant pandas and Asian elephants are all endangered animals. They’re endangered because people cut down forests and pollute the water. A world without these beautiful animals would be a sad place. We must all work together to make sure they do not disappear. The WWF works to protect the endangered animals and their homes. Why not join us and help save the endangered animals around the world?

第六单元 宠物

Jason: Alice, what’s your favourite pet?

Alice: I like cats best.

Jason: Why?

Alice: Well, cats are pleasant to hold and to touch.

Jason: But cats just lie around. They don’t do anything.

Alice: Oh, my cat likes to play. My cat even catches mice.

Jason: And then, cats just do as they wish.

Alice: That’s true, and that’s one of the things I like about cats. They don’t need people. They can be kept more easily than dogs. Dogs need a lot of attention, and they bark noisily.

Jason: I see.

Alice: What about you, Jason? What’s your favourite pet?

Jason: I like fish.

Alice: Fish? Why do you like fish?

Jason: They’re easy to take care of.

Alice: But you can’t play with a fish or even hold it.

Jason: True.

Alice: In fact, you can’t really do anything with a fish, except watch it.

Jason: That’s what I like best. I don’t really have time to take care of a dog or cat. At the same time, it’s nice to watch the fish swim around.

第七单元 未知的世界

Captain Troy: Hello, Liz and Gus. Listen carefully. This is very important. We can’t land the mother ship in the forest because of the trees. Now look at your map. Can you see square B4? Your spaceship is there. There’s a river near you, in square C4. The river goes into a lake in B2, C2 and D2. There are some mountains next to the lake in E1, E2 and E3. We’re going to land the mother ship in square D1. Remember that square D1 is our landing site. We can’t land in A1, B1, C1 or A2, because there’s a desert there. And don’t go to D5 or E5 since a town is there.

We’re going to land the day after tomorrow. You must get to the landing site in two days. Then we must take off and leave.

You must leave most things behind. You can only carry five things. I hope you make it! Oh, one more thing. Remember that you mustn’t hurt or kill anyone on this planet. Good luck!

第八单元 将来的生活

Two astronauts were flying back to the Earth after a trip to the Moon. Suddenly, one of them said, “Oh no! The computer is taking us to Mars. We’re not going back home!” The other astronaut said, “I can’t stop the computer. It has been attacked by a virus. Let’s send an email to the control centre to ask for help.” But the email reached the Space Computer Club instead.

The people at the Space Computer Club were watching the news when they received the astronauts’ email. While they were helping the astronauts contact the control centre, they were also calling the Whizz-Kid for help. He is good at fighting computer viruses.

The Whizz-Kid received the call from the Space Computer Club, and he promised to write some virus-cleaning software in ten minutes. Nine minutes later, the Whizz-Kid created the software and sent it to the astronauts in the spaceship.

The two astronauts received the Whizz-Kid’s software. They started it and the computer worked again. The spaceship continued to fly back to the Earth.(龙华家教真情为您服务)
